8) Prayer by TIm Keller

Prayer book for Mom

So this is one of the books I took back out to reread. Tim Keller is one of my favorite speakers and authors. His book Meaning of Marriage should be on this list as well! The most influential book on marriage we have read by far. Right now prayer is something I am craving more of. This book was such a help years ago in giving me the desire and reminding me of the importance of prayer. Especially now as a mother and wife – I want to me a prayer warrior for my children and husband.

15 Books on Marriage and Parenting

PARENTING BOOKS

10) Collapse of Parenting by leonard sax

Parenting Book

Leonard Sax is one of my favorite authors when it comes to parenting and child development. I first read this book while I was pregnant, and it truly challenged my husband and me to think deeply about how we want to raise our children. While it’s an excellent read for parents or parents-to-be, it’s also incredibly insightful for educators and anyone in a leadership role with kids.

Sax doesn’t shy away from the tough realities facing families today—some of which are honestly hard to process—but his wisdom, backed by years of experience as a family physician and psychologist, offers both clarity and hope. He weaves in eye-opening statistics with practical advice, encouraging parents to be intentional about their values and direction. What I appreciated most is how he emphasizes raising children who are humble, hard-working, and respectful—qualities that feel more important than ever.

12) Boys Adrift by leonard sax

Parenting Boys Book

Yes, another Leonard Sax book—because his work is just that good. If you’re raising boys, this is a must-read. (He also wrote a companion book for girls, which is on my to-read list!) Sax offers powerful insights into what boys truly need—and just as importantly, what they don’t.

This book was incredibly eye-opening for me, covering everything from the impact of video games and the importance of humility, to surprising topics like how certain chemicals (even those in plastic water bottles) may be affecting our sons. It’s packed with research, real-life examples, and practical takeaways that helped me better understand how to guide and support our boys in today’s world.

13) PRaying over your children

Praying for Children Book

The most powerful thing we can do as parents is pray over our children. This book deeply inspired me to become more intentional in prayer—specifically, in praying Scripture over my kids. It helped me move from vague prayers to meaningful, focused intercession rooted in God’s Word.

I’ve loved everything this author has written, and this book is no exception. If you’re looking to strengthen your prayer life as a parent, I truly can’t recommend it enough.

14) Tech Wise by andy crouch

Screen Free Family Book

This is a fantastic, eye-opening book about technology’s role within the family. It’s packed with helpful statistics and practical, encouraging strategies to reduce screen time and create healthier habits at home.

If you’ve ever felt concerned about how technology is impacting your family—or if you long for a slower, more intentional, screen-free lifestyle—this book will give you both the motivation and the tools to make meaningful changes.

15) the read aloud family by sarah mackenzie

Real Aloud Family Book

I read this book while I was pregnant, and it filled me with so much joy and anticipation for motherhood. Reading to my son has quickly become one of my favorite parts of our day, and I look forward to continuing this tradition throughout his childhood.

Mackenzie beautifully explains the lifelong benefits of reading aloud—not just to little ones, but even into the teen years. This book is both inspiring and practical, and the final chapters include curated book lists by age group, making it a wonderful resource to keep on hand as your children grow.

What else would you add to the bookshelf?

If there’s a book that has inspired, refined, encouraged, or challenged you in your journey as a mom, wife, or woman of God, please share it in the comments! I’m always looking to add meaningful reads to my shelf—and I know other readers would be blessed by your recommendations too.
